What is it about fall that makes us think orange! Although First Light Farm is a fairly small farm, our pumpkin patch is always full of pumpkins of all sizes and shapes. We can assure you and your family will have a special time walking the fields, finding the PERFECT pumpkin, and enjoying the beauty of the open spaces. As the fall season gets closer, we often offer special activities for families so check with us on Facebook for the latest updates. September is the start of Pumpkin Season!
SEASONAL FALL EVENTS
All events on the farm are family-friendly and open to newcomers! Farm events include a potluck to allow people to get to know each other, enjoy delicious food, and share thoughts about land, food, and other topics. The following are annual programs held at First Light, but check back often for dates in 2017!
Make your Own Scarecrow or Corn Husk Doll – Bring some old clothes, an old pillow case (for the scarecrow’s head), straw hat, buttons or any other knickknacks to give your scarecrow some personality, and learn how to make your own garden art just in time for Halloween. Maggie Seeds, First Light Farm’s educational coordinator will also teach youngsters how to make a simple corn husk doll. First Light Farm will provide the frame and hands-on instruction, and you bring the old clothes and your sense of fun and creativity. $25.00 per family. Please RSVP by texting 206-719-8602 so we know you’re coming and how many children you have with you.
Fall Pumpkin Festival (every weekend in October) – Come along for a hayride on First Light Farm’s junior tractor (“little John), join in a fun relay race where you have to dress like a farmer, paint a pumpkin, enjoy roasting a s’more, listen to a fall children’s story, and of course pick out your favorite pumpkin. $10.00 per child (includes activities specified for that day and a pick of a small pumpkin). Pumpkins can also be purchased separately. Pumpkin prices range from $5-20 for extra larger sizes.
